ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is a
type of all-digital telephone and Internet service. ISDN lines can
transmit digital data as well as voice - without a modem. Speeds
are available in single channel (64k) and duel channel (128k).
Frame
Relay is a high-performance WAN protocol that operates
at the physical and data link layers of the OSI reference model.
Frame Relay is an example of a packet-switched technology.
Leased Lines connect two locations
for private voice or data telecommunications service. A leased line
is essentially a reserved, private circuit between two points that
is open at all times, guaranteeing bandwidth for network traffic.
T-1 Service (1.54Mb) contains
a large amount of bandwidth for users that have significant data
transfer demands. It moves data through the carrier onto the Internet
through dedicated lines.
T-3 Service is a very large
pipe of bandwidth containing 23 T-1 lines. T-3 lines will carry
demands for transfer through dedicated lines.
DSL (Digital Subscriber Lines)
carry data at high speeds over standard telephone wires. With DSL,
data can be delivered at a rate of up to 1.5 mbps. DSL users can
receive voice and data simultaneously so there is no need for a
separate phone line.
